i. APBET Policy development for low cost private schools located in the non-formal
settlements.
ii. ECDE policy review Ministry of Education.
iii. Daraja has supported the legislation of the Child care Facilities Act 2017 for Nairobi

03Governance and Civic Participation.
Daraja has a strong Governance structure led by a 10-member board of
management,
whose role is to advise on policy and strategic direction. A secretariat headed by a
programs
manager,
assisted by project coordinators who head the 3 core program areas: together with the

grants officer
form the management committee. Daraja also has a seasoned M&E department headed by a
Monitoring,
evaluation
and learning officer. To support program activities is a pool of project officers, trainers,
Community
Resource persons.

04Child protection
Daraja works to keep children safe regardless of their gender and
race. Daraja works in the communities to promote positive social behaviours that help
prevent any form of violence against children. We also work with county and national
government to train social workers and help strengthen their child protection systems.

05Research
Daraja focuses on Research as a thematic area where our research work revolves around community mapping, mapping of ECD/baby care centers, data collection and documentation of best practices. Daraja also works with the Research consultants, research assistants and data analysist in realization of its research work.
This research work cuts across the Governance, Basic Education and ECD programmes to improve the effectiveness of its projects/programs and also ensure judicious use of resources.
